I'm Ms. Strangely Familiar

Way back in my college days and until now, nothing bore me most than just being ordinary. I usually walk with eyes on the moving pavement stones along the road. I glanced up a little bit to see where I am heading. There was one instance, while I was walking beside the INC building, I heard someone calling some girl's name. I noticed that he's looking at me. I was so sure enough that he was because I as was the only one on the other end of the block. He waved his hand, he kept on smiling and staring at me.We were about 10 feet away from each other. I never smiled and waved back. I was actually about to walk passed by him. And at this moment, as we were getting closer and closer, I really tried to ignore him. I was already thinking he really had mistaken me for someone else. But I was still trying to doubt that maybe I just can't remember him as someone I know. We met at a certain point, still trying not to be bothered. He chanced up quickly to grab my left arm to let me know that he's there that we know each other. At the back of my mind, I was a bit scared.Now we're so close enough to make a better view each other's faces. (I was sure I do not know him)I could see in his face that he really knew me well. He said, "Lina how are you? how are the kids?". With all these questions, I just stood there smiling at him, hardly any word. And then , "It's me." he said with a very reassuring look. A minute passed by, I was trying to say something to him. I said and sheepishly smiled, " I really do not know you. And I am sure of that." He almost cut me off and blurted, " You're Lina my neighborhood friend, aren't you?" and then another one. "Where's your husband?". I told him no. The look of his face begun to change. I also told him I'm a nursing student and I just got out from my review class. I showed him the review center so to make him believe and I even waved at some of my colleagues with their questioning look.
What one thing I do not really understand was that it took him so long to realize that I was not her Lina.The scene ended with his face in shock and I already expected of him to be embarrassed. And he was. He asked for an apology many times too quickly.I readily accepted. This is just one instance out my handful experiences of being mistaken for someone else. Oh boy !

Today's Resolution

I always come up with something like these at then end of the day. Before I go to sleep, I usually write them down in a very small notebook and these are like one of most precious things to me.

♥ Focus on things that I LOVE and I should let go all my worries and fears in people's opinions about me.


♥ Always wear the same wardrobe everyday that never goes out of fashion --- SMILE.

♥ Don't hesitate or doubt on things that you love to do as long as it's not dangerous. Doubting and loving don't go together. Doubting is unconsciously underestimating God's great power.

♥ Sometimes it is better to hallucinate or daydream about getting what you want than entertaining a certain BS called fear.

♥ Once you're so certain of your dreams, of what you want to achieve,you wear it in your head like a crown....even if it has many thorns.

♥ Loving is the act of inviting all the goodness in life, while fear is rejecting it.

♥ Wonderful, beautiful,pleasant, inspiring, sufferable are just a few adjectives of happiness.

BPO and the Filipino People: A Miracle to Each One Another

Due to constant diaspora influenced by several factors in which poverty ranked as number one, a greater pool of well-to do Filipino professionals leave their country seeking for a greener pasture leaving us with weak manpower resource. All of the good doctors, nurses, lawyers etc. have left leaving us the problem of health force deficit. Not to mention other workforce sectors, it is now quite alarming that even the government is trying to win people to be medical professionals by giving great allowances and big discounts on tuition fees in their schooling so as to fill in the gaps that is thwarting our health care system. But it did not stop the trend. Reality might be just too hard to digest. But this is happening so fast that a majority of people do not really care.

And to those who are not mentioned above? Well, they found I mean we found our reason, a place to stay -- the BPO call center.

BPO owners see Filipinos as their miracle worker and as to us, they are the miracle to our financially -starved economy. Why I consider Filipinos as a miracle to them relies on our capability to be the super employee, the employee they always dreamed of. We have westernized culture thus we can understand them just as Americans do. Majority of our population speak American English and even learn to put accents on it. We have strong work ethics. We have a friendly and jolly nature that are just a few of the admirable characteristics that make us great sounding over the phone and the list goes on.

BPO owners and the Filipinos are in need with one another that they move hand in hand towards the success of BPO industry in the Philippines.

With its positive cascading effects, millions of Filipinos were given jobs, were paid with salaries same as that of the managers in some day time jobs, become family breadwinners, multiplied the number of RP graduates by funding their relatives' education, realized their dreams etc. Last but not the least, they make more revenue to RP economy which subsequently improve the Filipino lives in general.

10 Power Stress-Buster for Call Center Agents

Undeniably, the most inevitable reason call center agents are knocked off their knees are the stresses they get from accumulated pressure due to burnout, high call volumes, irate customers, lack of sleep etc. To fight these things off, we have come up with ten easy, simple but effective tips to combat stress. Consider these tips that might save your skin.

  1. Deep Breathing. A lot of people may have overlooked the therapeutic effects of deep breathing. By spending 3-5minutes of deep inhaling and deep exhaling, you will feel relaxed, relieved and refreshed.Try this during avail time or when on break.

  1. The Eye Effect. Have you noticed that the longer you stare at specific object at a certain distance, the more it hurts your eyes? This is what they call eye strain. Agents on the floor are very prone to this. They stared at their the monitor unconsciously so long (and not even blinking) that they feel itchiness, redness, sensitivity to light, pain and dryness in their eyes. Well, it is time to drain those eye strain by these very simple yet almost unnoticeable steps. Alternate view the monitor screen and distant objects for few minutes with several minutes in between. Try to move you eyes up and down, right to left vice versa respectively. It allows your eye muscles to flex and relax preventing fatigue that causes eye strain symptoms. And who thinks blinking is best only for exchanging secret messages between friends? It is designed for a reason. By blinking , your eyeballs are moistened with eye fluid chemicals produced by your tear ducts that give immune protection and the fluid it makes prevents your eyes from tear damage due to dryness. Blink as often as every 3 seconds. Blink for health and for fun.

  2. Flex and Fix. The moment you grab your headsets and call in customers, you have doomed yourself to slight immobility. Eight hours of sitting is as dangerous as inviting yourself a heart attack. Immobility for long periods of time, slows down blood circulation, promotes abdominal fat build up, lowers oxygen level, giving that tired sleepy feeling etc. Try these simple yet unnoticeable steps, you can improve blood circulation, firm your tummy, replace those tired mood with alert ones. When you were about so sit, try not to slouch and stoop. It is in this way that proper posturing is maintained. Move your muscles of your arms, shoulders, tummy, your buttocks and thigh muscles, and lower leg muscle. Try to flex and extend. Contract and relax.

  3. Suspend too much caffeine. This might be really impossible to let go. Coffee has been the call center agent's best friend. They can be as alert as they want to be with a couple cup of their espresso or latte. Initially, caffeine is good. But as you higher the dosage, it is awfully bad. A couple and a half cup of coffee throughout the shift is acceptable. There are people who have higher caffeine tolerance. And they are exempted from this. They can't feel 21/2 cups coffee working as what most of us can. Caffeine overdose could make you more tired, dehydrated (due to it's diuretic effect) which eventually leads to fatigue. But aside from these two effects, the list goes on not mention caffeine addiction withdrawal syndrome. And the alternative? Tea. According to some recent study, tea is way healthier than coffee. If coffee is most sought- after energy booster, same goes with tea minus the caffeine. Gradually replace coffee with tea day by day, ounce by ounce and taste after taste.

  4. Keep humor your armor. Whoever and wherever you are, laughter is the still the best medicine. Hilarious stories, fun jokes, and whatever that makes you laugh gives you stunning physiological, and psychological effects. When you laugh spontaneously, your body releases a certain chemicals that gives a feeling of well-being. And not just that, it also firms different groups of facial muscle which could save your face from premature lines and eventually early aging. Because of its toning effects, laughing is called the facial exercise. Laugh out loud. Let it be heard. Because it is contagious, it can diffuse tension across a group of people in minutes.

  5. Positivity begets positivity. Always keep in mind that the atmosphere of the company of people you are with affects your mindset and your mood. Optimistic fellas are as infectious as the pessimistic ones. Choose circle of friends that creates a warm and joyful mood in the workplace.

  6. Aromatic Scents. Fragrances gives you a feeling of comfort. Our sense of smell is always connected to our limbic system that stores past good and bad memories. You could bring back good ones by choosing the scents of your choice that gives you pleasurable effects relieving you from stress.

  7. 8.Chocolates. What do chocolates and falling in love have in common?Sounds far-off to compare right?But both produces a certain chemical that is responsible for pleasurable feeling both lovers share. It's Euphoric and intense.Warm and dreamy. Sinfully indulge on chocolate bars and the stress will melt away.

  8. Inspiration in the workplace. This might be very difficult if you can't find any person of your choice. But let it all out and savor the good. Well, based from my experience, if I find someone that I like and let all the good feeling surge in and linger on it even if it is quite impossible to be with him, I noticed I am not as stressful as I seem to be. Emotions are as powerful as your mindset. Pleasurable emotions like love can quickly overtake bad effects of stress.

  9. You. Surprising as it may seem, but the quickly overlooked anti- stressor is yourself. How your body reacts to a certain situation would all depend on yourself. How have you been, what you have been through affects your response. Your self is a dynamic living thing. You can be drowned by or you can will yourself to resist negativities like stress. If you have that will power even by just the thought of it, slim is the chance for stress to go in.
